I have officially joined the Vermillion Organization as an L9 Squire and am to begin my training next Tuesday. I went before the inner council today for my interview and they all seemed pretty laid back for being the heads of such a huge establishment. They also seem to be fairly eccentric as well. I mean, they were playing hacky-sack in the middle of a job interview… odd, but I must admit I had fun.
Now, for those of you who know me… if you ever get a chance to read this, that is. Hopefully it makes its way home if I don’t. Anyway, you may ask yourselves “Why would he of all people join the army?” The answer is simple: Apocalypse. I’ve been hearing a whole bunch of rumors about how this year through 2020 is supposed to be some sort of crazy demon filled apocalypse. We’ve had prophecies and stuff like that from the world I came from before, but none were taken so seriously that any multi-billion dollar company took armed measures or trained its own army.
I met a man the other day. He was the same height as myself with blond hair, was kinda gangly, and grungy too. He wore sunglasses, carried a kendo stick on his back, and was smoking a cigarette that never shortened. I think he’s a man at least… he may be much more than just human, but anyway, he gave me a proposal to join the Vermillion community. Vermillion promises to protect mankind from the impending apocalypse. They DO have the Vermillion Alliance, which is a group of super-heroes banded together to protect Earth, so I figure it might be possible.
Where I came from the planet was much duller. It was still Earth, however, we never had super heroes, or large organizations that wielded such colossal power doing good deeds (as far as I knew). The people in general were far worse as well. Liars, cheaters, killers, whores, criminal syndicates, and sick, demented psychos ran rampant, while innocent people were jailed, mugged, raped, and murdered on a daily basis. Maybe it was just the region I lived in… who knows? The only thing I know for sure anymore is that I was shot in the back of the head, and I woke up in the Vermillion hospital in this world without a scratch on me. I still have memories of the place I came from… I’m sure it exists. Hopefully one day I’ll find out more.
That man, Mr. Strent, said something about me fulfilling my ultimate potential. I want to know what he meant by that. He left before I had a chance to ask.
Anyhoo, I supposed I should take a shower and sleep. I feel as though I have a huge day ahead of me… good night!
